Other Information:Senpai Blackwell has completed the A.T.K.A. instructor certification course, with honors. She is an assistant karate instructor and the lead instructor of Kobudo at ATKA. She is a student of Kobudo(weapons) at MSKA under Sensei Susan Ferguson and a Student and practitioner of Iaido ( Art of the Japanese Sword) under the instruction of Sensei Martin Ceiplik. Her exceptional knowledge of the history of martial arts, specifically Shotokan Karate, as well as her creative teaching approach make her classes interesting for all ages. She acheived her Early Childhood Education Asst. Teacher Certification in 2011. In 2008 she completed her certification course from PENN Carreer Institute as an Occupational Therapy Aid. Her patience and friendly approach to sharing the art of Shotokan karate with preschool and kindergarten age students combined with her knowledge of the specific developmental limitations as well as abilities of this age group are the reason she is the lead instructor of our "Little Tigers" program. Senpai Blackwell completed the ASEP coaching certification course in 2010 and has coached the ATKA Tiger Team to three National AAU Championships 2008, 2009, 2010. |
