Aikikai Aikido

Aikido is a purely defensive, non agressive martial art developed by Japanese Master Morihei Uyeshiba.  It has it's origins in the ancient Japanese fighting arts of JiuJitsu, Kenjisu and Aikido literally translates to mean the way of harmony.
Ai=harmony, Ki=spirit or energy, Do= the way

This martial art values the coordination of mind and body to develop self confidence, and the ability to meet stress with a sense of calmness.  Master Uyeshiba felt the coordination of mind and body training was responsible for enhancing every aspect of daily living.

Anyone with reasonably good health may practice Aikido.
It requires little physical strength since the Aikido practitioner learns to utilize and redirect his opponents force.   The Aikido student learns proper breathing techniques, ki (energy) exercise, and techniques which are used to redirect, throw, or pin an opponent in order to place him in a position of submission.

The Aikido instructors at American Tiger Karate Academy are members of the
Roshinkan Dojo and Aikido Association of America.
They have been taught by the late Fumio Toyoda Shihan, whose Sensei were
 Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba
and
Koichi Tohei Sensei
